Stop the SCAQMD Ports Rule

Protect Local Jobs. Defend Our Port. Keep Control in Our Community.

We Need You To Show Support for the Cooperative Agreement

On Friday, November 7th the SCAQMD Governing Board will be taking action on the draft cooperative agreement negotiated with AQMD staff and the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach. This cooperative agreement is the best path forward for a sustainable future while protecting the economic vitality of the region. More information to come soon.

Why We’re Speaking Out

The South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) is pushing a costly new “Infrastructure Rule” that threatens to take control of our local ports—America’s busiest gateways for goods—away from elected leaders and put it in the hands of an unelected board 50 miles away.

This is not a step toward cleaner air. It’s a repeat of the failed Indirect Source Rule, repackaged under a misleading name. And it could have devastating consequences:

  • Jobs on the Line: Thousands of good-paying, union-supported port jobs are at risk.

  • Higher Living Costs: Restrictions on port operations could drive up prices for everyday goods.

  • Loss of Local Control: Decisions about our ports’ future should be made by the leaders we elect—not bureaucrats in distant offices.

Join the effort to safeguard our jobs, communities, and environment.
